Womans Guide to Preparing for Divorce
Womans Guide to Preparing for Divorce If you have been together for a long time, it is challenging to decide on a divorce. And it is even more challenging to understand whether you really need it and whether you are ready for this step both morally and financially. Theres much to consider when preparing for divorce. Lets try to figure it out. Are You Ready to Take Charge? It is not about a situation when a man wants a divorce, or when it comes to escaping from marriage, where violence and abuse occurs. Lets discuss a less complicated but still unpleasant scenario when it seems like nothing awful happens, but, anyway, you are pondering on a divorce. More often, women worry about the same things: Probably, itâs time to call it quits. But some days it seems to me that everything can get better. And the next day it feels like it is necessary to break up and separate immediately. Maybe I still love him? Or maybe not, but I am still worried. And what about my dream of growing old together? How will the children take it? And then, how to explain this to all friends and relatives? I definitely do not want to explain anything. So maybe we should not divorce? But I have been already thinking about this for three years. But everything could be fine if he changed his behavior. Is he capable? Or not? Or just do not want to change? What if its me wrong? I do not understand how to solve this problem. Professionals have written tons of books and articles on this subject trying to provide help for women going through a divorce, but there is another problem. According to all these professionals, a lot of couples who have decided on a divorce, in fact, are not ready for this, and that is why it is so difficult for them to cope with the created situation. Divorce is a radical and tough decision, especially if there are children of the marriage. But even if you do not have kids, this event will have a very long impact on your life. Therefore, before burning the bridges (you will have time for it), it is worth analyzing everything thoroughly and being aware of what to consider when getting a divorce. Four Questions to Make a Decision People tend to seek to get out of a stressful situation as quickly as possible, and this is natural no one likes when it hurts. But when it comes to such a vital decision, rush may only harm as you do not give yourself enough time to calmly analyze your feelings, desires, needs and possible options. As a result, you are not ready for the consequences that will appear in the process (and after that) of the divorce, both emotionally and practically, financially. To minimize the likelihood of such an outcome, hg.org suggests you answer four questions which contain divorce advice for women as well. The way you answer may help you see the whole picture more clearly. Why do you divorce? The only valid reason for divorce is the sincere desire to end a marriage and stop being a family. All other reasons, like, Let him understand how bad is life without me, Maybe divorce can change him for better, I will get revenge, he will suffer for having offended me are the completely wrong reasons. They are based on emotions which are fleeting and changeable. Divorce does not change a person, does not change his thinking or behavior. Divorce simply makes you two separate people who begin to live their own lives. And these lives should be full, happy, and self-sufficient. Have you considered how to cope with the emotional, domestic and financial problems of divorce? Girls will be girls: most of us have that mental slideshow in mind titled My happy family. Here he is proposing, here is a beautiful wedding, here is a joint vacation, here is the first child, here is the second, here you open your common business together, here you are old, gray and beautiful, traveling the world, and your numerous grandchildren call you with their 479th iPhones and so far, or something like that. All these pictures break down as soon as the word divorce sounds. And, surely, it is very hard to take. Pain, loneliness, disappointment, denial, longing, and depression accompany the process. And worst of all, if it is not only your feelings but also the feelings of your common children. But this can be overcome. Both you and your children can cope with it. However, you have to think over in advance what will help you, how you plan to deal with it, where to look for support. If you just rely on âas luck would get itâ there, you may not cope. The same applies to practical issues. If you depend on your husband financially (an apartment or house is his sole property, or something else makes you not self-sufficient), think in advance, how will you deal with these issues yourself. Will you be able to maintain the habitual standard of living? Whether it is fundamentally important to you? What can you do to change your situation and improve your abilities, earning capacity, and so on? Do you know what to do to prepare for the divorce process? If you are going to initiate a divorce, it is better to sort out all the procedure questions and possible divorce options independently and thus, to take the primary responsibility. The moment when you tell your spouse you want to divorce is not the best time to rely on him or wait for support. Learn more about the most suitable options of how to arrange a divorce process so that you have something to offer for consideration. The first thing to do when getting a divorce is to decide the type of divorce. Divorce can be either contested or uncontested, and the latter is the most popular nowadays. Favored by the US courts, an uncontested divorce assumes that the spouses try to resolve all the most controversial issues of their case out of court and avoid lengthy and tedious trials. Along with it, an uncontested divorce provides opportunities like DIY divorce or online divorce. If the spouses agree to make a joint settlement arrangement they can do without an attorney at all and save a lot of money. DIY divorce means that you take everything on yourself. You should gather the needed documents and forms, fill them out, learn more about filing rules and divorce laws of your state so that not to miss anything. In general, DIY divorce makes sense in the relatively calm and simple divorce cases (for example, if the couple does not have children or a lot of property to divide in a divorce.) Another option which gains popularity all over the US is an online divorce. Online divorce means that the spouses can complete all the required paperwork with the help of one of the specialized websites. Or rather, the site will do it for them. The customer must provide some primary data about the divorce case, and all the documents will be automatically customized according to certain circumstances. While DIY divorce implies that you pay only the mandatory court filing fee, online divorce companies charge their fees, but the cost is still much more affordable than that of the lawyer service. Do you have feelings for your husband? Most people who have thoughts about divorce still have strong feelings for their spouses. At the same time, as a rule, there is some problem that poisons their family life, nullifying the feeling of intimacy and trust. If you recognize yourself in this description, then before you run to the court, try to deal with the initial problem, independently or with the help of family therapy. This does not necessarily mean that you will be able to solve this problem. At least, if you fail to solve it, you can wrap things up once and for all and decide on divorce with a clear head. Otherwise, after the divorce, you may suffer even more with the thoughts like And what if it actually was possible to fix everything? Preparing For Divorce Many Considerations! We want you to be well informed and thoughtful as you are preparing for divorce. Be wise and think twice. Making such a decision requires forethought, so that you can make the best choices for you and your future.

Your Personal 3-Step Checklist to a New Career
Your Personal 3-Step Checklist to a New Career Your Personal 3-Step Checklist to a New Career Your Personal 3-Step Checklist to a New Career November 8, 2014 by Career Coach Sherri Thomas Leave a Comment Are you thinking, âI need a new job!â Are you thinking it every day? If you spend your days fantasizing about getting into a new career that fills you with more meaning and purpose, then its time to take action. Ive successfully reinvented my own career four (4) times and I fully believethat life is way too short to stay in a meaningless job where youâre unfulfilled, unchallenged and under-valued. As a leading career coach, the #1 biggest question I get asked is, How can I transition into a new career without decreasing my salary? Each time I reinvented my own career, I received anywhere between an 8% 32% salary increase. A client of mine, Matt, just reinvented his career from being a manager in the TV industry to becoming a manager in high tech, and received a 17-percent pay increase. So how did we do it? And how can YOU do it? Moving into a new career means repackaging your skills, qualifications and successes so that you can transition into a new job role, company or industry. It takes a strong vision, a solid plan, and someone who can coach you through your transition, but yes, it is possible! Below are four steps I take with my clients to teach them how to reinvent their career Identify your transferable skills. If youve been working for at least five years, then you have transferable skills. These are skills that transition from industry to industry, or from job role to job role. Examples include: managing projects, teams, clients or budgets, as well as negotiating contracts, helping a company generate revenue, save money, or gain market share. Other transferable skills include personal characteristics such as demonstrating leadership, mentoring or training others, risk taking, being goal driven, results oriented, a problem solver, or having the ability to influence senior managers. These are great skills to have, and they transfer from industry to industry. All kinds of industries and companies value employees with these types of skills and characteristics. Match your transferable skills to job roles. Read job descriptions posted on Indeed.com, CareerJournal.com, CareerBuilder.com and Monster.com, as well as business journals and industry-specific websites. If you want to work for a specific company then check out their websiteâs on-line job postings. Learn the skills and qualifications required for various job roles. Then, match your transferable skills to those jobs you want to go after. If thereâs a gap between the required skills and the skills that you currently have, then look for ways to gain that experience such as taking on an extended assignment in your current job, or if youâre in between jobs then try freelancing, consulting, or volunteering. Also, attend industry conferences, trade shows, business networking events and association meetings. Talk to people who work in the industry to learn about their career path, key skills, and advice on how to break into the business. Blow up your resume. The first thing I always did before I transitioned into a new career was blow up my resume. Trying to piece together a resume that highlighted the skills I used to get my last job with the skills I needed to land my next job was like trying to weld together Lexus parts on a BMW. It doesnât work. You need a brand new resume. Hiring managers donât care about every job youâve ever had. They just want to know if you can do their job? In order to get noticed youll need a clean, polished and professionally written resume. And one more tip attitude is king! Iâve found that getting a new job really boils down to two things: confidence and passion. Iâve never walked into an interview having met all of the job requirements. In fact, for the television interview, I lacked the two biggest requirements which were a minimum of two years experience in television, and a reel to show my TV work. Thereâs a kind of quiet confidence that we all have down deep inside. A confidence that comes from knowing what weâre capable of doing. If you want the job offer, youll need to sell yourself to the hiring manager by showing you have confidence in yourself to be successful in the job. When it comes to reinventing your career, itâs not just your skills and talent but your attitude that counts! Want a little help transitioning into your new career? Are you an invisible career seeker - Hallie Crawford
Are you an invisible career seeker Here is a great article that I wanted to share with you about the importance of being visible online in your career not just your job search: Are you being âThe Invisible Man (or Woman) in your career? I am the last one to join when it comes to technology, so it takes a lot for me to get on the bandwagon. Time and again I hear from recruiters and career coaching clients how important it is to have some kind of presence on the internet, and a positive one. You want to have a web footprint, and have it be a good one. This week Google yourself and see what comes up. Imagine an employer is researching you, what would they find? Would it help or hinder your image as an employee, or as a candidate for a job? Would they find nothing and not be impressed that you dont even have a complete LinkedIn profile? Some industries are less online focused than others, but I think that as time passes companies are more focused on the web. Dont get left behind! Michigan Workers Hate Their Jobs the Most
Michigan Workers Hate Their Jobs the Most The middle-class factory job might have reached iconic status here, but today, people in the onetime automotive capital of the U.S. are just fed up at work. According to a new study of social media sentiment from Monster and Brandwatch, Michigan residents are the most likely to hate their jobs. Close Modal DialogThis is a modal window. This modal can be closed by pressing the Escape key or activating the close button. While there are likeable and unlikeable aspects of most jobs, the study found surprising regional differences in how people feel about their work, as determined by an analysis of how often Twitter users across the country say things like âI love my jobâ or âI hate my job.â Monster pointed out that all of the 10 states where people hate their jobs the most are in the eastern half of the country, with most along the Eastern Seaboard: Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida are all among the states with the most ticked-off workers. This could partially be due to the nature of the jobs Americans really canât stand: The number of people working in the food and beverage industry and in finance who tweeted about hating their jobs shot up over the past year. Read next: This Job Could Pay You a Six-Figure Salary to Work Just a Few Days a Year Aside from Michigan, the Rust Belt states of Ohio and West Virginia also make the list of job-haters, along with swampy Louisiana. âWhen we analyzed the states where people are most happy with their jobs, we looked at what types of roles are available in those states,â said Monster spokesman Matt Anchin. Since the labor market has been slowly improving, he suggested that people who dread going to work every day should see if thereâs a better position open somewhere else. (He does work for a job board, after all.) âWe would always encourage someone to get out there and find better because thereâs significant opportunity,â he said, although he also suggested trying to evaluate what might be rubbing you the wrong way about your current position before you bail. âIf youâre in a job that you donât like but think you can turn it around, try to figure out what specifically is making it untenable,â he said. Maybe switching schedules or joining a new team might be enough to alleviate the frustration â" or at least tamp it down enough to keep you from venting on Twitter, which isnât exactly smart. Where to find the happiest workers Maybe workers today just want some space to themselves. âThe states where employees tweet about loving their job the most include seven out of the 20 least-populated states,â Monster observed. Accordingly, the happiest workers are in Big Sky Country â" a.k.a. Montana â" followed by Idaho and North Dakota, respectively. Overall, the states with the happiest workers are a more geographically diverse list, although Western states dominate: Utah, Washington, and even subzero Alaska all make the top 10. New England makes a showing with both Vermont and Maine in the top 10, rounded out by Tennessee and Minnesota. Read next: Full-Time Work Could Be Bad for Your Brain Monster noted this is a huge change from last year, when Hawaii topped the list (it fell all the way to #15 this year). Other factors aside from where we live also affect our job satisfaction, the survey found. People trash-talk their jobs the most during the month of July â" maybe because weâd all rather be on a beach or a trail this time of year â" and tend to feel the most warm and fuzzy about them in October, perhaps because weâre anticipating all that holiday-season spending coming just around the bend. Oh, and maybe we should rethink our use of the term âFri-yayâ (seriously, itâs kind of annoying anyway). The survey found that Thursday, not Friday, is the day when people are happiest at work, a function of the same gig-economy growth that has fewer people working traditional 9 to 5, Monday through Friday hours. The jobs that tend to make people happiest lean toward technology, although not exclusively. The states with the happiest workforces have a large number of jobs in customer service, technical support, and software development. âThe good news is that these jobs are available virtually everywhere,â Anchin pointed out. So you only have to move to Montana if you really, really want to.
